1977 - The Early Years
I started climbing at school way back in 1977. The nearest cliff was Helsby Hill, a large sandstone outcrop with 150+ routes.

1980 - The Alps
My first trip to the Alps. The aim was to visit as many areas as possible to check out places to climb in later years. We drove down in a friends landrover

1981 - The Alps
Swiss Alps with Nick Buck. We stayed at the recently opened Mönchsjochhütte and climbed The Mönch.

1983 - The Alps
Swiss and german Alps with John Terry.

1989 - The Italian Dolomites
With Nick Buck. I love the Dolomites. We climbed many via Ferrata

1995 - Skiing. Avorias, France
First ski trip to France. I prefer the Dolomites or Austria

1996 - Alaska with an attempt on Denali
Most of who happen to be members of OVMRO, decided on a trip to North America's highest peak Mount McKinley (or Denali as it is known to the native Alaskans)

1998 - Rignys Bjerg, Arctic Eastern Greenland
First trip to Arctic Greenland

1999 - Hurghada, Diving in the Red Sea
My buddy has been diving for many years and he asked me along for a 'Try Dive' at the local swimming pool and I was hooked. Another expensive hobby. I learned to dive in the 'cool' water of the UK before going to warmer waters abroad.

2000 - Patagonia
During January and February 2000 a group of seven of us visited the Fitz Roy area of Argentinean Patagonia with the initial aim of ascending Cerro Poincenot This is the story of our trip and I hope to include any useful information for others wishing to visit the area.

2001 - Italian Dolomites - Skiing
The Dolomites are the best place to ski in my opinion. Around the Sella Massive with amazing scenery. The mountains look impressive in summer but in winter they take on a majestic quality

2001 - Italian Dolomites - Climbing
I promised a friend it was always sunny and only rained at night. We pulled up at the Sella pass after driving from the UK, to be greeted by snow on the ground and rain in the sky. She was not impressed.

2002 - Bodrum, Turkey - Diving

2002 - Lundy, Bristol Channel - Climbing
"The Kingdom of Heaven" I had always wanted to visit Lundy and it was well worth the wait.

2003 - Sharm-el-Shiek - Diving
We had to put up with 28 - 30C in the water and 30m+ visibility..... again !!!

2003 - Italian Dolomites, Climbing
I love the Dolomites and took a short trip to have a look around with a quick stop in Austria on the way

2004 - Indonesia, Diving
Five members from Haselmere Sub-aqua Club had a two week trip to Manado in North Sulawesi. This included eight days diving. We also took a trip into the rain forest to visit the smallest primate in the world (Tarsier Spectrum) and a short, but fast, walk up a dormant volcano.

2004 - Lundy, Climbing
Another visit to this magical island. Inga and I spent 5 days on Lundy with only one day of bad weather

We stayed in the middle of Venice which is great as in the evening, most of the tourists go home and it is great to wander around without crowds.

2010 - Scapa Flow, Diving
In June 2010 I achieved something I have wanted to do since I started diving back in 1993 and that is to dive on the pride of the German Imperial Navy High Seas Fleet (GINHSF) up in Scapa Flow. Apart from the diving it was a memorable trip as I have never been into deepest northern Scotland and beyond.
